As a contracted LSP (Language Service Provider) to Huawei, ZTE, Huawei-3com, and Harbor Networks, Fineword specializes in translation in IT/telecom. The founder of Fineword has undergone rigorous training of the UN Translators & Interpreters Program in BFSU (Beijing Foreign Studies University), and was once among the core leaders of Huawei’s Translation Center. I was once assigned as an outsourced translator to Huawei (Shenzhen headquarters) in 2005 and to Huawei-3com (Hangzhou) in 2007 respectively. To bid for ZTE’s contracted LSP in 2004, I, on behalf of Fineword, attended the English exam held by ZTE and attained a very high score, thus distinguishing Fineword among the multiple competitors. Apart from ample translation/proofreading experience, I’ve also acquired the skills and competence for managing translation projects. Each translation project goes through the following procedure: 1) Evaluate the translation project preliminarily in terms of difficulty and time required, 2) Analyze and pre-process the original documents by Trados, 3) Break down the entire project (if large enough) into multiple tasks and assign the multiple tasks among the suitable translators, 4) Implement quality supervision during the translation, 5) Proofread, revise, polish, and finalize the translations, 6) Return the finalized translations to the translators for study and reference, 7) Listen to the client’s feedback comments attentively, and make further revisions (if necessary).
